A Journey Through Time ⏳
1818 Bistro is more than just a restaurant—it’s a piece of history in the heart of St. Charles. Originally built in 1818, our building once served as a gathering place for travelers, settlers, and pioneers. Known as Eckerts Tavern, or the Sign of the Buffalo, this spot was a vital stop along the Boon’s Lick route, offering food and rest to those journeying westward. Today, we continue that tradition of warm hospitality.
A Passion for Food and Community 🌿
We, Steve and Venetia, have spent nearly 40 years in the hospitality industry, and this restaurant is our latest labor of love. Owning historic properties along South Main Street has given us a deep appreciation for preservation and quality service. At 1818 Bistro, we blend history with exceptional dining, serving American cuisine with a French flair in a setting that honors the past.
A Historic Legacy, A New Adventure 📚
Beyond the bistro, our passion for historic preservation continues. Venetia’s family runs Boone’s Lick Trail Inn, a charming accommodation just down the street. We also manage Boone’s Colonial Inn, a luxury suite property with stunning views of the Missouri River. Every project we take on is driven by a love for history and hospitality, and 1818 Bistro is no exception.
